A Poet's Prayer

God, don't let the poet within me die,
Grow cold to beauty and not even try.
Give me the joy, but no praise for what I write,
For you are the maker of poem and poet alike.
Open my eyes, inspire my humble pen —again,
So I like you, can share a poem with a friend.
