What is the Price of Love?
What truly purchases Love?
Is it the heart?
If I offer my heart without remorse,
Does this signify true Love?
Is it wealth?
If I offer wealth beyond imagination,
Does this acquire true Love?
No, I do not believe so.
Both are empty and without feeling.
These things are mere physical endearments,
Which demonstrate what one is willing to sacrifice.
It is true that Love must stem from attraction,
Both physical and mental,
But in order for true Love to exist,
Other things must balance these qualities.
Anger, frustration, and perhaps a mild form of hatred,
Must be present as well.
For it is these qualities that will inspire true Love,
And cause it to endure.
Love with all attraction is doomed to fail.
It is the balance between the attraction and repulsion,
That is the sign of a lasting relationship.
There should be enough allurement,
To keep the parts together,
Yet enough repugnance,
To help maintain a comfortable distance.
Herein lies the answer of how to truly gain
The power and stability of true Love.
